Not a bad restaurant however there are better options in the valley. Pretty prompt take away service so I can't comment on the restaurant table service. Spicy chicken I had was well worth it. Would be back if I was dining at Portside.

Second visit, second 'mission accomplished'... and then some! After recommending Betong to friends, with more orders and improved choices, things were better on so many levels.   Surprisingly (as a rarely seen stubby), the wheat beer Hoegaarden (weighing in at a mighty 4.9%) was amongst the bottled beer and this was the perfect appetiser. Try it,love it - its something different and worth the moment.  From one classic to another, the Tom Yum Goong (a very famous Thai dish with a pleasing aroma) set the bar even higher. Incredibly flavoursome, the lashings of herbs, chilli, lemongrass and kafirr lime leaves - (and don't forget the mushrooms or choice of meat, although traditionally prawns) demand an immediate date with rice. Absolutely disgusting food, worst I have ever had . DO NOT GO THERE!!! THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT MUST CHECK THIS PLACE IMMEDIATELY!!!! Very disappointed

Yet, still not quite as amazing as the steamed Lime Barramundi (Pia Nung Manuo) which bedazzles you with everything from its sizzling presentation to its princely combination of fresh chilli, lime juice and garlic. Fish rarely gets better than this.  Finally, a word for the veggie curry, easy pleasing with its coconut cream and 'reds and greens'. Complete with excellent service, this place is a must for any lover of Thai Food - and 15% to any first time customer is a strong selling point.

Tonight we has Tom Yum, Quail and noodles. Betong has a great selection of authentic Thai with a number of western friendly Thai and south East Asian dishes. This is the second time I've eaten here and both times I've been pleasantly surprised at the quality. Highly recommended!
