Hillfield Bar Restaurant - Bagshot

Very enjoyable dinner. Very tempting menu. I had a wonderful terrine followed by a sharing roast chicken. It came with a couple of very well-made pies and chips and vegetables. We had a dinner bed and breakfast spa break at Pennyhill Park. After reading the reviews about Hillfield we had low expectations but we were pleasantly surprised. I had the chicken (photo and it was delicious and the presentation was impressive. My husband had the steak and enjoyed that. We ordered the Eaton mess and millionaires pudding and the Eaton mess was not great and when our plates were collected the guy serving us asked how the deserts were and we said the millionaires was amazing but we didn’t like the Eaton mess (really strange texture, fluffy sand?! and when we got the bill the Eaton mess had been taken off which was a nice gesture. Such a shame that this has gone so far downhill as I love Pennyhill Park. Unfortunately the service was slow and they only did the bare minimum. The food itself was fine but certainly not worth the price as I could easily get a similar quality steak at local pubs. Note £30pp deposit, we booked, and no table was allocated also requested a highchair which we then had to request again. Food average, service friend but patchy, poured still water onto sparkling water and then didn't change the glass... not a place I'm afraid I would not rush back to..

Lovely hotel but service not five star unfortunately.
