Zacharys Chicago Pizza - Berkeley

I discovered this restaurant in the neighborhood through HappyCow. We had visited before the vegan options were available, so I was pleasantly surprised to see Zachary listed there today. I ordered the spinach and stuffed mushroom pizza, which is one of their best sellers. They do have a few other vegan options, but I have to say this is one of the best pizzas I've had here!

Everyone in the bay loves Zachary’s! They serve amazing pizza and it's a great place to hang out. I'm so glad they offer vegan pizza, too!

The crust was crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside, with a great texture. It was delicious! The sauce was excellent, and they didn't go overboard with the cheese. We were able to walk comfortably from our neighborhood to the restaurant.

During a cross-country trip to sunny California, I made a stop in Chicago specifically to indulge in some authentic deep-dish pizza. Yum! Fast forward a few months, and I found myself craving that Chicago-style pizza again. A friend suggested trying Zachary's for a deep-dish fix. After tasting their pizza, I dare say it might have been even better than what I had in Chicago! The crust was delicious, the sauce was rich, the cheese was wonderfully gooey, and the toppings were top-notch. This is definitely a pizza best enjoyed with a knife and fork. I can't wait to go back, though my waistline might not be so forgiving!

After trying Chicago-style pizza in Chicago, I now favor Zachary's pizza. While I enjoyed the crispy, flaky crust and layered toppings of Chicago's pizza, I absolutely love Zachary's generous use of tomato sauce. If only we could combine the Chicago-style crust and toppings with Zachary's delicious tomato sauce, we would have the perfect pizza!
