On my third visit, I ordered 1/2 pound of brisket and ribs for about $21, but was charged $34 for 1.67 pounds of meat (3 ribs and a slab of brisket). After questioning the pricing, the server adjusted my order and I ended up paying $25. The food was delicious as always, especially the amazing beans. The only downside was the consistent overpricing of the meat.
The BBQ at this restaurant is delectable, and the staff are extremely friendly. However, what I truly adore are their margaritas. Take your time and savor them slowly. Remember to choose wisely if it's your first time dining here, as the prices can quickly accumulate. The restaurant has ample parking, including handicap parking spots.
I visited this restaurant for BBQ a week and a half ago and it was fantastic. The smoked meats were tender and moist, especially the jalapeño sausage, pork chop, and beef ribs. The food is ordered Ala Carte and priced by weight. Just a heads up, if you plan on having alcohol, bring at least $75 with you. Overall, a delicious dining experience!
The Hard Eight in Stephenville offers brisket that is more marbled and tender. While it was good, it wasn't exceptional. The main issue is that the prices are too high. I spent $32 on lunch today, which included a small non-alcoholic tea, a few small slices of brisket, pork ribs, a side of corn, and a small cobbler for dessert. The corn was the standout dish for me, while the ribs were tender and tasty. However, I felt that what I received for $32 was not worth it. I expected to have leftovers at that price. I also found the tipping options confusing, with only choices of 0, 15, 20, or 25%. I tipped 15% out of politeness, even though it was self-service seating. There should be better lunch options available for the price, as the portion sizes were small and barely filled a plate. Vegetarian options are limited to side dishes like baked potatoes, corn, and salads. The restaurant is family-friendly and has plenty of parking available. Overall, I believe the food was only worth $20 at most, and for a price over $30, I would expect more food and better value.
My husband and I stopped in here to pick up dinner on our way home. The girl at the to-go counter seemed put out by having to do her job; not very friendly and very short with us. While we waited for our food we saw several employees, all of them saw us but never said hi or even smiled. We finally got home with our food only to find that it was lacking severely. The brisket was tough and dry. The potato salad tasted like a big onion. And we are reluctant to even try the cobbler. Needless to say we will never return to Hard Eight again. Jambo’s BBQ is a million times better and we will stick to them from now on. We thought we would try a new place……our mistake.
