If you're interested in history, this is definitely the place for you. You should visit if you want to learn more about the past. The Calabar Museum is a must-see!
The museum has an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide with several years of experience. It features many fascinating relics, and visitors are not permitted to take photographs inside.
Absolutely worth a visit! I love that it's housed in a colonial building, which is a monument in itself. The location also offers a lovely view of the river. The entrance fee included a guided tour. The museum features six different galleries that focus on colonial history, old Calabar, palm oil production, and the journey to independence. It's definitely a place worth exploring!
Used to be a government house but turned into a museum. Must visit if youbarebin Calabar as a tourist. My most impressive room was the fattening room, before and after pictures were incredible. I think a fee is paid for entrance and cameras and bags are not allowed inside. You can go in with your phone though. You can take pictures outside but not inside. There is a small shop there too where tourists can buy momentos and all that.
You know how exciting it was for me at the National Museum. Woah! Seeing something I've only read about as a child. It was fascinating. I saw the Cannon used by Orok Inyang, kept in the museum for several decades. The building itself was fabricated, imported and coupled here in Old Calabar several years ago and it's still maintained and in good shape till today. You find historic books in the museum bookshop. It's an interesting place to visit.
