Amigo - Cap-Malheureux

Googled for goo seafood restaurants inauritius and this one came up. Amigos not only took our booking just 20 minutes before we arrived by phone, but set up a table with heart napkins and flowers for my husband's birthday. The lobster and seafood was delicious and the staff all had beautiful manners.

This place was recommended by the hotel. Unfortunately it didn’t deliver. The atmosphere is good and clean(nothing over the top) and the service staff was really wonderful and super helpful. The menu is classic Mauritian fair which is what we came for. They started us with a complementary croquet that was delicious. The heart of palm salad was dull. No dressing nothing just some chopped greens and lemon. The lobster was well cooked however the sauce was just cream with no garlic or lemon flavor as they mentioned. The fish which is the only local and fresh option the rest is frozen was of good quality however it was ruined by bad cooking. Way overcooked somehow had a fishy taste (hopefully its the one we choose) and lacked any grill taste. The prices are way above the local market average and almost as expensive as eating in the hotel.

I thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the service at the restaurant. The quality was excellent, although the layout felt a bit awkward since it was located on the upper level. Still, it was a lovely setting. However, I wouldn't recommend it for a business dinner. It would be a fantastic place to take your wife for a special occasion, though.

I had the worst seafood experience I've ever encountered. The bang bang fried shrimp and calamari were too greasy. The seafood platter for two was totally unappealing. The cheese sauce in the lobster shell tasted burnt, and the lobster was undercooked. Everything was lacking in seasoning. The tuna bled all over the plate. We visited for Valentine's Day with two other couples, and none of us enjoyed our meals. I’m giving one star for the mojito I had and another for my husband's piña colada, which were both quite good.
