Mel's Cafe - Charlottesville

Fantastic!!! We had just 10 minutes to grab a quick meal before our train departed and ended up at Mel’s by chance. They quickly prepared a chicken salad sandwich and a turkey sandwich for us. Once we were on the train, we were delighted to discover that the turkey was REAL roasted turkey, and the chicken salad was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Often, chicken salads can be overly sweet or just bland, but this one was absolutely perfect! It was incredibly delicious! Thank you!

I was on the hunt for an affordable spot for dinner before a concert yesterday. My boyfriend and I love home-cooked meals and comfort food, and this place delivered all that with a friendly smile and a cozy atmosphere. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I chose the ham and cheese omelet accompanied by a side of mac and cheese, while my boyfriend had the roast beef on toast topped with gravy and potatoes, also with a side of mac and cheese. Everything was absolutely delicious. We really couldn't have asked for a better meal. I highly recommend this place to anyone who appreciates tasty comfort food.

My absolute favorite restaurant! Even the kids always pick Mel's as their top choice when we're in C'ville. We haven't had a bad experience with the menu yet, and I seriously doubt we ever will! Everything is simply amazing!

A real hidden gem! This restaurant has probably been around for quite some time. The staff were exceptionally friendly and patient. The fried chicken was simply delightful, and the sides—cabbage, cornbread, and macaroni and cheese (which was dry and sticky rather than creamy and gooey)—were truly delicious. The pork chops with gravy were a highlight, and the sweet potato pie and lemon pound cake were fantastic! I can't wait to sample everything else on the menu!

During my recent visit to this historic café in Charlottesville, Virginia, I was thoroughly impressed. After some time away, I had the pleasure of enjoying an amazing double bacon cheeseburger topped with a fried egg, skillfully prepared by Mel. I can confidently say it's the best burger in Charlottesville—and possibly in the whole state of Virginia! With warm wishes from Cumi (Kool-Me) and family, we cherish the Mel’s Café family!
