80 Thoreau - Concord Tpke, Concord

Once we discovered the location of where this restaurant was (blue door) we were pleasantly surprised it was situated on the second floor in front of the train depot. The food was excellent but overpriced. Every once in a while you would hear the train going by but not a deal breaker. The wait staff were attentive but not overly so. I would go back but only for a special occasion.

80T never, and I mean- NEVER- ceases to amaze me. I have been frequenting this lovely addition to Concord Center since its arrival. The menu is always unique, robust and of the highest quality. Seasonal items are artfully chosen and expertly prepared. From the host/hostess to the serving staff and clearing (bus-person), there are smiles, kindness and gratitude. Servers are very well informed of the menu, preparation and never forget to ask about allergies. This remains my favorite Concord, special occasion restaurant.

We only had time for a quick dinner this time. Grilled Strip Steak. Sea Bass. Both dishes were beautifully composed with flavorful sauces and garnish. Very high quality meat and fish. The Panna Cotta with Mango Sauce was phenomenal too! Our daughter is vegetarian. Wish 80 Thoreau offered vegetarian dishes. We would go there more often.

This is how every gourmet restaurant should strive for. Each menu item was a perfect blend of textures and flavors presented in a most creative manner. The only downside was it slowed down conversation since we savored every bite. Seated near the cooking area did not add to the ambience, though we could have asked for another table.

Duck had a weird watery citric coulis. Renderloin was supposed to be medium rare per the chef's recommendation and it was rare-raw. Sea bass was good but I had to look on the plate carefully to find it. The reservation asked if it was a special occasion and we indicated birthday. We were barely noticed and no occasion was noted. The ice cream next door was good though. Won't be back. Pretty shockingly bad for $203, three entrees and three drinks.
