We came across this pub on the off chance after visiting the Beaufort Craft Fair. Our group consisted of 2 adult friends. Tetbury is a lovely country Town in Gloucester where King Charles III has his Country estate of Highgrove House. There is parking behind the Inn but we missed the sign and parked on the street. It was a Tuesday lunchtime so we weren’t expecting the pub to be busy, which it wasn’t. We were greeted at the door and shown to an empty table. The hostess was pleasant, courteous and very welcoming. The menu wasn’t large but it was varied and even catered for my friend who was gluten free! We had Soup of the day with fresh bread and a side of chips and Ham Croquettes (not gluten free). All was delicious and with 2 sodas was £30.50, note a 10% discretionary service charge was added which was a surprise. Facilities were good and would definitely visit again when in the area.
After spending four hours walking around Westonbirt Arboretum, I was looking for a local place to eat. I made a great choice by selecting this lovely restaurant, which I could tell as soon as I walked in. The staff were excellent, providing a warm greeting at the bar and then escorting us to our table at 3:00pm on Sunday, October 22nd, 2023. The menu had an excellent selection of food, and I was hungry enough to enjoy three courses. The ham hock croquette, soup, and cheese soufflé were divine, followed by four delicious roast beef dinners. The beef was cooked perfectly, with generous portions of roast potatoes and vegetables. For dessert, we had apple crumble, Eaton mess, and crème brûlée. Despite the restaurant being busy, we were still well taken care of by the attentive staff. They were exceptional, and I hope they are properly recognized for their hard work.
We stumbled upon The Cat Custard Pot almost by chance while looking for a quick getaway in the Cotswolds. This pub is a hidden treasure in the area, offering more than meets the eye! The rooms are lovely, the food is outstanding, and the staff is fantastic, especially Lynn the front of house supervisor, Robert the Head Chef, and June the Head Housekeeper. The young bar staff were also incredibly friendly and accommodating. Our room was charming, clean, and spacious. We enjoyed every moment of our stay and can't wait to return soon!
In need of lunch on a Tuesday before visiting Highgrove we found that it appeared most pubs in the area are closed for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays. Then I came across the Italian Chalet at the Cat and Custard Pot which turned out to be a godsend. We had lasagna and pizzas and absolutely excellent they were too. Set us up for the rest of the day, the pub itself also looks very interesting and we shall be planning a stay there in the near future.
