VUE - Dana Point

The first thing I wanted to note is that our server, Jett, made the experience memorable. His positivity made the night enjoyable. I planned a milestone birthday here weeks ago. Our entire party came in from out of town. I made several calls to confirm the night on the patio. When we were seated at our table we were informed that there was a dinner and movie night happening on the patio. Which was located right next to the patio. The alternative was if is was too loud we could move inside. I most likely would have made reservations elsewhere if I was previously informed of this at one of the earlier conversations I had with the staff weeks prior. We were excited to experience the menu as we learned that they had a new chef on property. The food was good. I was honestly expecting more. Maybe the Hocus Pocus movie playing in the background distracted my taste buds? I felt like the food at Sam Fox restaurants were more rich in flavor. Again, the food was good. However, the flavor to price point wasn 't reflected in my opinion. The portions were a bit disappointing. The lobster pasta dish was shockingly tiny for the price. And the person who ordered it bit into a lobster shell in the pasta dish. My pesto was okay. I asked for salt pepper and Parmesan to boost the flavor. I was shocked that the restaurant wasn 't terrible busy and I wish there was more attention to detail to the dishes we ordered. With the long list of restaurants in Dana Point, I 'm not sure I would return to this restaurant on my next visit. That said, the RESTAURANT staff was accommodating and very pleasant. I would maybe recommend this location for a sunset cocktail perhaps. Definitely not for a special event. Especially on a dinner and a movie night on the patio.

Food was great. We had filet mignon, octopus, spaghetti, scallops, and oysters on the half shell. All the food was delicious. The ambience is a little barren and cold feeling. We ate inside even though we had reservations for the patio, as it was cold and foggy I would like to come back and try the patio in the future when it’s not as cold it looked beautiful with the fire pits. Our server was delightful, although could be a little bit more attentive. The busser, Bella was spectacular. She would be a great server and should be promoted! The rest of the staff was extremely attentive. Even the manager came by to check on our table and make sure all is well.

Can’t say enough good things about this restaurant, hotel, and property! The best thing about this restaurant is the service! The servers and the managers were so attentive to our every need. The music was fantastic and the view can’t be beat. We ordered cocktails, which were delicious, some oysters, which were very fresh and salmon and lobster Bucatini entrées, which we thought were very tasty and well seasoned. We will definitely be back!
