The Gantry Restaurant - DAWES POINT

I found it amusing that they brought hand sanitizer before the meal. The food was all delicious and satisfying.

I absolutely adore everything about this restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere are all excellent. It offers fine dining in a laid-back atmosphere and is truly a hidden treasure. Each dish is prepared to perfection.

The ambience is nice, mostly driven by the location (waterside, next to/underneath the Harbour Bridge). The outdoor seating in Summer is best if really waterside, the remaining seats aren’t quite at the level of this price point. <br/ <br/ We went with the vegetarian degustation, and the overall taste was good. The serving portions are certainly too large this lead to struggling to finish or even taste some of the later courses of the 6 course menu.<br/ <br/ The highlight was the confit globe artichoke, and I would say the low point of the meal was the miso braised eggplant. The roast king brown mushrooms were excellent, especially with the potato roesti, however these were distracted by too many elements to the dish. The chocolate with dulce de leche ice cream desert was certainly a great way to finish.<br/ <br/ Overall, I would recommend it as a one off experience. Definitely felt that less is more when it came to food itself.

The food was average, nothing amazing.. service was good though. We were seated outside by the water which was nice, it had a beautiful view and very suitable for date night. I recommend ordering the crispy chicken and squid dish!

Beautifully presented food. Tasty too with unique flavours. I like how they put in effort for each dish to create a flavour combo that is both different and special. There are plenty of fine dining establishments that do not do this for plant based dishes. Had a great evening. The only downside was the very, very slow service. Many instances when we needed something and couldn't get any help because the waiters didn't frequent/look in our area often. Even when they didn't have anything to do and were standing there, I think they just forgot about our table. Nonetheless, I would recommend highly for the food.
