Monsoon Bar Restaurant

The food here is truly delicious. It can get busy, but it's definitely worth the wait.

We were absolutely thrilled to choose this restaurant for our dinner! The chowder and steak were the best I've had in my 20 years of dining in Australia. Even the roasted vegetables and potatoes tasted far superior to what I've experienced back home.

I ordered the mushroom pasta, and while my friend absolutely loved it, I found the cheese to be a bit stronger than I expected. Nevertheless, I still enjoyed the dish. The portion size was generous, and the garlic bread was delightful. Overall, the menu offered great value. For dessert, we had the mud cake, which was truly delicious. We also tried the jumping goat shots at 8 NZD each as an aperitif, and I thought that was an excellent deal. We sat outside, and the atmosphere was lively with an interesting mix of people.

We stayed 2 nights at Franz Josef, tried several restaurants and the best one must go is Monsoon ! The food is delicious, not too salty as others places, and prices are very reasonable. The “boss” at the counter taking the order was very friendly ! He kept our wine in freezer to keep it cold after we paid it hahaha ! Thanks bro/mate/boss

We didn't eat here as didn't have time, but menu looked good and food looked amazing from what we saw coming out. We came here for drinks and loved the atmosphere and general vibe. This is the place to be for a night out in franz josef, great music, pool table, nice choice of drinks. Roaring fire.. ski lodge vibe. Really cosy!
