Mackmyra Whiskyby - Gavle

We were around 60 people for dinner. We were served beef that should have been tender! But for almost most people the meat was bone dry, best described as an insult to the raw material! The 2nd glass of wine was served when most people...were finished eating. The wine, a simple Côtes du Rhône, had large bottle variation.

This was the best meal we've had in Gavle! The main courses are half portions, so you can order two different items - which is worth it because they were all very good. We recommend the wild boar sausage, the steak (tender and perfectly cooked), and an exceptional Mac and cheese. The local beer was good, but the whisky was even better. We will definitely come back when we're in a good mood.

It took 10 minutes to place our order and the waiter did not acknowledge us. There appeared to be no teamwork among the staff. Such a disappointment.

All in all an OK experience. The distillery itself is really cool and the tour of the process was exciting. Testing was good although a bit impersonal at times The area around the distillery has lots of potential but feels like more could be done to make it more inspirational Food wise, very solid restaurant but nothing out of the ordinary. The whiskey is great and the staff very nice
