Excellent service by the staff and food portion and quality are awesome. Will definitely be back and recommend the restaurant to friends.
We booked in for Sunday lunch and were a little concerned by the limited set menu choices. My husband and I ordered different meals and both of us were pleased with our choices which we found the food excellent. This is a restaurant that takes its time in servicing you hence you must be prepared for a long relaxing afternoon. In all our dining experience lasted 2 1/2 hours but we would not have wanted it to be more rushed. We found the break between courses reasonable and necessary. There were no English menus available and our waitress had limited English however with the help of other customers she was able to explain our choices. We thought it was good value and would certainly eat there again.
It was Spargelzeit (Asparagus season) so we thought we'd try this restaurant since we know both German locals and Americans who rave about it. They seated us in the very back of the restaurant where we shared a table with a German couple. It took nearly 45 minutes for a waitress to arrive to place our order and nearly 1.5 hours for us to receive it: Spargel mit Schinken, Spargel mit holländischer Sauce, and a kids meal of Brühwurst mit Pommes frites. We were there so long that the staff were putting away centerpieces and tablecloths while we were eating. To add insult to injury, it took our waitress even longer to come to the table so we can pay. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone visiting the area and will advise them to eat elsewhere.* I remember this nightmare from May 2004, but the "review" date is for the earliest allowable at this time.
The food and service were second to none. My husband was there about a year ago with some work colleagues. He told me that the bread that they served before the meal was some of the best that he had ever had... We decided to go last night and I was looking forward to trying the bread..unfortunately they don't serve it anymore. Just an ordinary baguette type bread was served. The rest of the food was exceptional. I had the complete meal with dessert included. The asparagus soup was good. Then we were given a delicious cherry tomato mousse. The salad was very good also. I had pepper steak perfectly cooked medium. It was served with potato croquettes. My husband had the goulash made with U.S. beef. It was fork tender with a rich sauce(delicious) served with mashed potatoes and some type of vegetable mixture. I had a glass of dry red house wine, that was very good also. We shared my dessert of some type of small pastry,a bit of chocolate mousse and a very light lemon mousse. The waitress spoke excellent English and was very helpful with any questions we had about the menu. Overall this is one of the best restaurant that we have been to since moving to Germany two years ago. This is going to be our restaurant of choice for all special occasions. Only wish they still served the bread my husband raved about.. Reasonably priced, our bill came to 70 euros with a glass of wine, 2 beers and an espresso. Try this restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
