Spikehorn Lounge - Houghton Lake

We ordered two burgers, and unfortunately, neither was cooked properly. The one that was supposed to be medium was raw and cold, while the medium-well burger was nearly raw as well. I understand that it can be difficult to find experienced kitchen staff these days, but they really need to make a greater effort. The food used to be really good.

Delicious food! It reminds me of classic diners, but with a bar atmosphere.

The food was excellent, and the portions were generous—especially the large cod! The staff was friendly and attentive. The place was clean and had a cozy atmosphere.

The service at Spikehorn has consistently been contemporary, and we've never waited long for our food or drinks—though I can't comment on how they manage things during peak times. The menu offers a nice variety, and I was pleased to discover a particularly tasty burrito. It's more than just your standard bar fare. They also have a full bar, boasting a decent selection of tap beers. I enjoyed a delicious dark beer that paired perfectly with the burrito. Now, no review would be complete without mentioning the restroom. I'm happy to report that Spikehorn passes with flying colors. There's ample space for more than one person, it's clean, well-lit, and fully functional. It may seem minor, but many places fail to get this right. (I can only vouch for the men's room; it’s usually best not to inquire about the women's restroom just for the sake of a review.) After another satisfying meal, accompanied by a beer or two, our bill arrived promptly upon request and we settled up quickly. Once again, Spikehorn did not disappoint. I’m confident you’ll enjoy it too—though I must clarify that this is not a legally binding promise!
