Soseki Cafe - Iowa City

This restaurant serves one of the best Poke Bowls I have ever had! The service is great and the atmosphere is pleasant.

I went to a sushi restaurant for the first time and it was an amazing experience! The food was excellent. I ordered boba tea, crab rangoons, takoyaki, the Philly sushi combo, and mongolian beef. The boba tea and crab rangoons were both delicious, although I thought the portion size of the rangoons was a bit small with only 3 pieces. The takoyaki was a new experience for me, and while I enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't order it again. The Philly roll was excellent, and the nigiri was high quality, although not necessarily my favorite. The miso soup that came with the combo was very good. My partner had the mongolian beef and said it was also excellent. We visited during a slow time, so our wait was minimal and the service was fast. My only minor complaints were that the menu pictures were outdated and misleading in terms of pricing, and some portions seemed small while others were too large. Overall, we were very happy with our experience and will definitely consider returning. We had a fantastic experience at Soseki. My partner and I were visiting from out of town and decided to have dinner here. We were so glad we did! We ordered the sake, Crunch roll, Rainbow roll, Soseki roll, and the Citrus roll. I highly recommend each of these options, especially the citrus roll if you love lemon like us! The rolls were fresh and delicious. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, and service was quick. We finished our dinner within 20-30 minutes of walking in. The restaurant was clean with a nice ambiance, and the music was just right. We particularly enjoyed the collection of anime figures on display near the registers. Menu had a lot of choices, which made me skeptical of consistency. However I have been pleasantly surprised which each visit and each dish. This place is 10/10 for food service and environmental Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
