Kilshanny House

We visited Kilshanny House for dinner during the COVID pandemic in 2021, before vaccinations were available. Unfortunately, the meal was disappointing, and there was an additional charge to substitute chips for mashed potatoes.

As the first wedding Matt hosted at Kilshanny House, we had around 60 guests, and the venue felt both intimate and celebratory—a refreshing change from typical hotel ballrooms. Our drinks reception was held outside in the garden, and the dance floor was conveniently located just beyond the dining area, allowing the party to spill onto the front patio. This setup created a wonderful indoor/outdoor experience, making it easy for guests to mingle and engage in conversation. Much of this was thanks to Matt’s exceptional vision, which enhanced every moment of the night. He was a pleasure to work with, handling the various dietary needs of our guests with ease. Everything went off without a hitch, and each bite—the canapés, the five-course meal, and the late-night feast—was the best we’ve ever had. Choosing a favorite part is nearly impossible; the soup was so delightful we scraped the bowl, the homemade brown bread was even better than a famous recipe, the fish course was so good we tipped the bowl to get every last drop, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. And we can’t forget the warm apple crumble! It’s no wonder we’re still talking about the food a month later; some guests even returned for dinner the next night, and others booked tables for their parents because it was that remarkable. But it wasn’t just the food and the atmosphere that made the evening special; the staff played a huge role as well. Jill’s front-of-house team, including Tetiana, brought joy and warmth to the night with their friendly smiles and fun personalities. They paid attention to every detail, ensuring everything went smoothly, while making everyone feel welcomed and at home. We’re still amazed at how they coordinated with Matt to serve 60 perfectly prepared plates simultaneously. We could share more about this magical night, but to sum it up: you couldn’t find a better place for an intimate wedding or a casual dinner. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication, care, and love that Matt and his entire team at Kilshanny House poured into our wedding. This hidden gem was the perfect venue to celebrate our love. Lovely, fresh food in a nice, relaxed dining atmosphere....delicious desserts too....had a waitress that made us feel most unwelcome though, and that it was a chore to be helpful.....and this really took away from the whole experience....pity.
