We were hungry for lunch after visiting Fatima and really did not see any restaurants in that area. So as we drove to Batalha, I spotted this packed bakery out of the corner of my eye and we pulled in for a quick meal. It was full of locals so we need it had to be good. There is no menu and you just tell the waitress what you are in the mood to eat. We got simple fare latte, cream of carrot soup, cheese and tomato sandwich and prosciutto and cheese sandwich. Everything was good and prices were reasonable local prices not the inflated tourist prices we find in all the tourist areas we have been. We recommend this little place!

The proof that quality doesn’t need to be complicated. Excellent!! Book in advance and try the “entrecosto”
