Grant's Free House - Melton Mowbray

This charming little village pub has quickly made its way to the top of our list! The weekly photos of the dishes prepared by the chef are absolutely mouthwatering. We couldn't resist, especially on a sunny day, so we decided to pay a visit. We don't seek out places just for trendy Instagram backdrops or the latest neon signs; we appreciate a good dining experience.

The menu is small but offers something for everyone, whether you're a meat lover, vegetarian, or somewhere in between. From a tiny kitchen come wonderfully creative dishes, proving that it's quality over quantity; the portion sizes may be modest, but each dish is bursting with flavor. The Sunday evening dinners are exceptional, featuring tender beef that you can cut with a spoon, black pudding with a crispy exterior, or a more adventurous option if you're in the mood for something different. The starters are light, allowing you to enjoy a three-course meal without feeling too full—believe me, you'll want to! On my latest visit, I savored a dessert of baked custard with apricot jam and homemade shortbread. This pub does it all: it has picturesque low-beamed ceilings for a cozy ambience, a lovely selection of outdoor seating for the summer months, and an impressive commitment to using local, fresh, and seasonal ingredients that showcase the chefs' passion for cooking. The drinks menu also features locally sourced British options, which is a delight to see. The couple who run this establishment clearly love what they do, and that passion radiates throughout the entire experience. We will certainly continue to return to enjoy the delights of future menus!

Absolutely amazing. Went there for Sunday lunch today and it was the best Sunday linch Ive ever eaten at a pub. Every course was incredible and tge service was top notch too. Well done everyone. We will definitely return.
