Dovrehallen - Oslo Norge

We wanted to try out real Norwegian food, and by the reviews here, we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant has two floors, you can get to the second one via the stairs on the left of the entrance. First we were seated at the first floor. It was more like a pub, very dark inside and not a great atmosphere. Upstairs was better! A little outdated but seemed traditional. The food was okay. We had reindeer meatcake and steak of minced meat, which was nice. Too bad the vegetables were from the freezer... Price was okay.

Great experience. The first feeling was a little off when comming inside. It was hard to find especially when you walk by train like looking train with its distinct smell. But after entering second floor, nostalgic, postwar american style dinner met our eyes. Blues playing in background, oldest veteran costumers looking merting our eyes like in old westerns. To the dishes. Excellent. We ordered raindeer chops, boiled beef and fried halibud and for the dessert warm apple cakes. Some reviews state that dishes are terrible but we didnt find it here. Very nice restaurant offering Norwegian food. The reindeerminced meat cake was quite good. Clean set up and friendly staff. Would recommend this place to someone looking for some authentic Norwegian food at a modest price.
