Cork Tree - Palm Desert

Service and staff were the bright spot of the night, the pork belly was delicious, and the drinks were great, but the cioppino and chicken were overcooked and salty. Atmosphere was intimate, nice, and well-kept, but in a dated, retiree-and-family-fancy-night-out kind of way. Overall, not bad, just not the place for me. One of the best meals I have ever had. Really really spectacular food and excellent service. Highly recommend it.

I went on a Sunday at the end of May around 5:00 p.m. and the occupancy of the place was a table with 2 people. I ordered baby iceberg wedges, the daily special with shrimp and white peking duck breast. As for the taste of the food, I will tell you that it is good. I loved the salad. The complimentary table bread and butter they offer taste good. It is a familiar and pleasant place. Suitable for children. There is no Wi Fi network available to the public. The restaurant is dimly lit. The menu they give you is very creative, when you open it, it lights up and can be read perfectly. Some credit and debit cards are accepted as an additional payment method to cash. If you have reduced mobility and/or are in a wheelchair, I tell you that access and mobility within the place is of medium difficulty. The space between the tables is limited. I sat in a booth and the table was a little uncomfortable, it was very high compared to the height of the chair. The place was visibly clean. The attention was good. The service was fast. The restaurant is located within a plaza, so parking is within it. It's big and free. I suggest reservation.

Enjoyed a nice meal at this spot. Staff was great and accommodating to our group. Service was on top of it and good to give us recommendations for food. Did not order appetizers but did enjoy salad and soup. I did the filet with asparagus and it was good. Mashed potatoes had great flavor. Asparagus was steamed, I prefer grilled or sauteed. Steak was cooked nice just could have had a bit more flavor to it. Nice wine menu. Menu's were very cool, nice backlit to make it easy to read in a darker restaurant.

Our server made our experience terrible. We felt awkward and we felt unsafe in the end despite trying to enjoy our food. (Long story short: our service was terrible, so we didn’t tip our server after dinner. Our server ran after us and intimidated us in the parking lot to leave him a tip. We sat outside and our utensils and table were very dusty. He made a passive aggressive remark when we asked for new utensils. Throughout dinner, we felt extremely rushed by him, for some reason, and his behaviour towards us was rude and condescending. We’re not sure why we were being treated this way, so we assume he was prejudiced in some way. We really did not appreciate his behaviour so we did not tip as we felt he ruined our experience, especially after we already spent lots of money on food. I understand that tipping is the norm, but the uncomfortable thing is that our server ran after us to our car and intimidated us in the parking lot saying we forgot to tip. He looked extremely agitated and was raising his voice at us, and if was dark out in the parking lot. We felt unsafe, so we tipped him to get him to leave us alone. I’ve never experienced anything like this before and I would never go back here. I understand it is rude to not leave a tip but it doesn’t warrant being chased and intimidated at a parking lot at night!
