We tried both Le Cinq and Guy Savoy this time visiting Paris. Guy savoy has more elder generation customers who also look like regulars. Environment wise I would recommend Guy savoy since it’s more special locating in a museum. Service is equally nice and thoughtful. Food wise, I might prefer Le Cinq a little since the traditional French sauce was too heavy for my stomach, after 5th appetizer I started to have a bad stomach and asked for warm water to survive. One interesting observation was, chef savory was in the room quite often greeting his customers, and talked to everyone in our room but us (we were the first table on that day and he nodded to us when we walked in). At first I thought he knew everyone but soon realized it apparently was not the case. So we couldn’t help but wondering what made him decide we as customers were not valuable enough for one or two sentences of his valuable time. Other than that and my stomach, the evening was quite nice. We would go back to Le cinq next time in Paris.

I had the honor of having lunch at Guy Savoy's restaurant with my partner to celebrate my birthday. I couldn't have dreamed better, from the kitchen to the frame to the service. the restaurant itself is sumptuous, a perfect refinement to enjoy the chef's superb cuisine. stairs from the betting currency to the table, everything is done to transport you in a bubble for a moment out of time. As for the kitchen, I miss the words to describe how magical experience was and divine cuisine. each dish was worked to perfection, and each new dish was a new surprise, a new balance of flavors, a new explosion of tastes. the speciality of the house, the soup of artichoke to the truffle and its leafy brioche with butter truffled, has particularly moved me. another dish, on which a tomato water was poured with olive oil, transported me directly into my childhood memories in the south of the france: a real madeleine of proust! It's simple, I've never felt so much emotion during a tasting. Finally, the service was simply perfect. from our arrival to our departure there was no dead time, and every interaction with the team members was more than pleasant. the dishes were presented with elegance, and the sommeliers chose the wines perfectly to accompany our tasting. the hotel master has ensured that our experience is unforgettable, and I am eternally grateful to him. Lunch at Guy savoy is to attend the concert of the philharmonic orchestra of gastronomy: musicians, sommeliers to the servers, give themselves to play their score with brio so that sounds high, strong and just the gustative melody of the conductor, Guy savoy. The spectator can only be conquered.
We had reserved Guy savoy for our 30 years of common life. So the pressure was... high. We did not regret our choice. everything was like this great chef: impeccable, tasty, shiny, elegant. the rooms are beautiful and overlook the dock. Good idea to get us on the dock by a young chef. We loved the evening and the advice of sylvain for the wines, from the room manager who has recomposed the menu with us. Of course it was exceptional for both of us, but this is not the very definition of luxury and very beautiful French gastronomy. Extraordinary!
