Castello Di Pavone - PAVONE CANAVESE

The Castle is beautiful, the only way to visit it (on your own, only certain areas is by dining at the restaurant or staying overnight. We dined at the restaurant and were not swayed by the food. Good but not extraordinary. Portions were small especially in view of the price paid. GF options available on the menu. Of course it’s quite a unique experience to eat into a castle room but we would not go back. Il castello è molto bello, l’unico modo per entrare e vederlo (per conto proprio senza accedere a tutte le aree è mangiando al ristorante o pernottando. Abbiamo mangiato al ristorante ma il cibo non ci ha entusiasmato. Le porzione piccole in vista del prezzo pagato. C’erano opzioni senza glutine segnalate nel menu. Certo è un esperienza unica quella di mangiare nella sala di un castello però non ci torneremmo.

A splendid fully restored medieval building perched high above the town but that does not mean the castle is the easiest place to find though when you do there is plenty of parking. Impressive understates this place. An abundance of pictures, tapestries and antique furniture set the scene. It is smart and it is luxurious but for all that relaxed though not a place to appear in jeans. Service impeccable and formal, waiters helpful. A relatively small menu (un priced) but each course cooked to perfection and well presented. Ombrina (fish) excellent and sauces rich, seared scallops too as a starter. The wine list is extensive and suits all tastes and pockets. Castello di Pavone is not for budget conscious diners but it is not expensive for what it offers.

An old castle with a restaurante offering good meals and wines with a decoration remembering old times. Fully recommended in Ivrea
