Our server, Alison, was exceptional. The restaurant was very busy due to a power outage in the neighboring area, causing many people to look for breakfast/brunch options. Despite a previous negative review, we found the restaurant in the Brookdale Plaza on Chemong Road to be clean and inviting, even when packed with customers. We will definitely be returning in the future.
My partner and I go to the PJ's diner on Sherbrooke in Peterborough...The best damn service and closest to a good old English breakfast you can get!! Lovely clean diner, staff eager to help and willing to chat...if something isn't included in the menu you want it can be added. Oh and free coffee top ups!Very reasonable price for great food. Thank you PJ's
The new location in the Brookdale Plaza is DISGUSTING! Our server had way too many table than she could handle. She came over and took our drink order for 4 people and forgot one of our coffees and lemon for a water. We mention about the forgotten coffee and she come back with a takeout coffee cup because they ran out of mugs. After about 10 minutes she then came over to take out food order. The food eventually makes it to our table and we did not have any cutler to eat with. She quickly runs and comes back with napkins and silverware. She apologizes about the missing knife and she will be right back with one. She never returns with another knife. The silverware that we did receive was dirty. Our plates are all greasy and the presentation was horrible. I was very turned off by this and was afraid to even put a bite of food in my mouth. I decided to look at the bottom of my plate and find a bunch of food stuck to it! I was horrified. What restaurant serves customers like this? This place should be shut down. I will never go back and will be warning EVERYONE of this dirty place. If you have any standards at all do not go here.
We were looking forward to checking out the new diner in the old location of the Starlight Dining Lounge in the Brookdale Plaza. The renovations are amazing and the server was great but unfortunately the diner food was not up to this good old fashioned diner lover's taste. I generally love a good diner's "hot" meal offerings like Liver and onions but I chose the hot "turkey" sandwich. Mistake. Turkey roll processed meat and packaged gravy. Even the bread was stale. Such a let down. And the side veggies were heavily oiled, over-cooked pepper slices and onions. Good diners will have real turkey and not this "fake" stuff.I am pretty certain if you like burgers and fresh cut fries, this is the place for you. I would hope their breakfast offerings would be good. But their "diner" offerings are a let down.
We visited the highway location awhile back and loved it. This past weekend we decided to try their second location on Sherbrooke street for a late breakfast. We were acknowledged when we walked in and after seating ourselves we were offered menus and coffee. After 10 minutes I had to make eye contact with our server (who was folding cutlery into napkins while chatting with a co-worker) so she would come back and take our order...not a good start. After 25 minutes. we had not seen our breakfast nor had we even had our coffee refilled. That is not ok. If you are a cook in a diner and can't make breakfast quickly then you need to find a new job. I watched 2 guys rushing around the kitchen so they weren't working slow but there is no way breakfast takes that long. And I'm saying that we LEFT after 25 min. because we were tired of waiting, and being ignored by our server. I'm not sure how much longer if actually would have taken to get our meal if we'd waited. As we were walking out the door our server finally acknowledged us and said "Oh, you're leaving us?" REALLY? Yes we're leaving! You've ignored us and it's taken almost 30 minutes to get our meal. As we were walking out the door I heard her yell to the cook to cancel our order....I can't imagine he had to cancel it as it may not even have been made yet. PJ's either needs to hire some new staff on Saturday mornings...one's who care about serving customers, and maybe another 2 in the kitchen to fire out some food in a timely manner. I can't imagine how their third location is going to fare but I hope it's better than this one.
