The Pickleback Tavern - Philadelphia

The hamburgers and eggs are absolutely delicious, and the staff is very friendly as well!

We had not eaten at Tavern for a few years. We went back last night and do not intend to ever stay away that long again. My wife had the tomato soup which was unbelievable and potatoes in garlic (I believe) which she loved and took the leftovers home. I had a hamburger with lettuce tomato, sauteed onions and the house sauce which was exquisite. Loved the hamburger. We sat and ate at the bar, talked to John the bartender and watched Golden Girls on the tv. Cannot wait to go back.

Had a great meal at The Tavern last night. My husband and I were in Philly for a play and decided to stay overnight. The Tavern was a 5 minute walk from our hotel. We both decided on the Tavern burger and homemade French fries. The burger was an 8 oz. sirloin burger served on a brioche roll. They were cooked exactly how we asked for and the fries were hot and crispy. Thank you for the delicious food and service. Will definitely stop in again when nearby.

Very good food and portion sizes. Service was a little slow, probably due to the fact that there was only one waiter for all tables. We weren 't in a hurry, so it was not that big a deal. Everyone was very friendly. The outdoor signage should be a little better to indicate that the dining is in the basement, so you don 't have to wander through the bar to find the T with an arrow pointing downstairs.
