La Tavola Italiana - Pittsburgh

Gathered with a group of old friends for a nostalgic reunion at our beloved Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Joe and Carmela, the owners, are truly exceptional. It may be biased as they are two of my closest friends as well.

We visited the restaurant on a quiet Tuesday night with only two other patrons present when we arrived. Despite requesting separate checks for a party of four, we were informed that the restaurant does not accommodate this request. We opted for the special appetizer, a baked Portabello mushroom cap topped with crab meat and cheese, but were disappointed by the minimal amount of crab present. Our dinner salads were also lacking in size and flavor. The portions of spaghetti ordered by two members of our group were disappointingly small for the price of $25 each. When we expressed our concerns to the manager about the cost and quality of the mushroom cap, only a $6 deduction was made. Overall, we were unimpressed by the experience and do not plan on returning to this establishment in the future.

I had the carbonara and very yum. Heavy on the garlic and lots of flavor. It came with a small house salad. We also got the spaghetti and meatballs- Sunday sauce basically. Pretty pleased with the al dente sauce and the meatballs were large and verygood. Our server was great! Super friendly and helpful

During our visit to Pittsburgh and while staying in Mt. Washington, my family decided to walk to this charming Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. It brought back memories of our favorite restaurant back home, with its delicious food, cozy atmosphere, friendly and experienced staff, and affordable prices. Each of our meals was scrumptious, and the desserts we shared were equally delightful. The portion sizes were just right - enough to satisfy without overeating. We savored our meal leisurely and had a wonderful time together.

Nice atmosphere, very good service, my entire family was in town so it was a large dinner party. We had a separate room for this occasion and it worked out great. Food was very good and lots of it. If you are in the mood for Italian food, you won’t be disappointed.
