Calcada Do Cais - Ponta Delgada

Excellent service, the best food we ate during our 9 day trip to Terceira and Sao Miguel. Our group had the seared tuna, pork cheeks and stuffed chicken. All were excellent. The servers were attentive and the atmosphere was modern and fun.

What an odd experience. We were looking for somewhere for a drink and some nibbles, and we saw this restaurant had a number of free tables so thought we’d go and ask. The lady told us we’d have to sit outside as we weren’t ordering a main meal, which seemed bizarre given the availability. Once sat outside, we ordered two beers and the cheeseboard, which itself cost €16. The ‘cheeseboard’ arrived what a joke. It consisted of some dry, stale fruit, 6 very small bits of cheese, some basic strawberry ? jam and some toast bits. There are so many lovely places in Ponta Delgada with friendly service and this is definitely not one of them. The main woman appeared overbearing, but the rest of the staff were trying their hardest.

After one hour of waitting the waitress said that we have to wait more. And she said they dont have fast food. Very umpolite person.

I almost never write reviews, but this case was special. Be prepared to wait at least 1 hour 1 hour 30 minutes 2hrs for your meal, and the waiters will not even warn you about such a long wait After an hour of waiting for our dishes, we were told that there would be at least another 20 minutes of waiting. We said that we can 't wait any longer and want to leave. The manager did not even apologized for this situation, but began to demand payment for the wine, which was not touched. We said we don 't agree with this. And then she said, “Ok, don 't pay for the wine and get out of here! This rude and arrogant attitude towards customers is absolutely unacceptable. In the Azores we met many wonderful people, but this place was unfortunately an exception.
