Princetown, and the General Store and Cafe are relatively easy to find. As you...drive along the Great Ocean Road between Lavers Hill and the Apostles there is a T-intersection at Old Post Office Rd and a sign. If you are travelling West you will see some buildings at the top of a short, slight hill. There are plenty of parking spaces outside the General Store and the tavern across the road. Both the General Store Cafe and the Apostles Inn were closed. There is a holiday park with a number of cabins beside the General Store and I think the two are part of the same operation. I imagine that the General Store Cafe and the Apostles Inn are open during the warmer months. Perhaps they are also open in winters when there isn't a global pandemic and tourist numbers are higher. There is a public toilet block which was open and clean. There is also a lookout and a wetlands boardwalk which I will review separately.
On my visit Saturday, about after walking along the GOW, the place was closed. The whole town was closed. Don't stop, there's nothing there. I think the zombies passed through there. End message,
The person in charge of this restaurant needs to work on their attitude! My family and I came here for lunch and to enjoy some ice cream we purchased from the store. We spent a fair amount on the ice creams, but apparently that wasn't enough to allow us to sit at the benches outside and eat them. The elderly woman in charge rudely told us to move if we were only eating ice cream. The restaurant wasn't busy, and other families were also enjoying their ice creams on the same benches. My elderly parents, who had traveled all the way from England for our family vacation, felt too embarrassed to stay and enjoy their afternoon. The person in charge needs to retire or stop selling food that she deems unworthy of sitting and eating. Save yourself the trouble and go get your ice cream in the next town.
Not open. Very disapointing seeing that it was well off our path. Nothing happening at Princetown. Don't bother.
The service at this restaurant was absolutely terrible. I have never experienced being asked to leave a table after purchasing food, especially when all we bought were nine ice creams. It is unacceptable that we were approached twice and told to leave, especially considering we were a family group that included my elderly parents. To make matters worse, most of our party felt uncomfortable and ended up eating their ice cream outside. Meanwhile, the people at the table next to us were also just eating ice cream. If this behavior is not acceptable, then the restaurant should not sell ice cream in the first place.
