I had an amazing experience in Rochester! This city is so underrated—it's hard to understand why. The museum offers something for both photography enthusiasts and admirers of beautifully decorated homes (and extra points if you enjoy both!). The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming, but I especially appreciate that you can explore the museum at your own pace. It's definitely a must-visit!
The gardens are pretty. I’m a local designer and I wanted to take photos of a couple of dresses inside the mansion. I just had a simple camera- no gear and two friends. I was told I couldn’t do that. It was a huge bummer. It was a weekday morning and I would have been super conscientious of other visitors. There are stipulations on the website about this I recommend checking out. Mainly, they couldn’t change their clothes there in the restroom but since we met up I had brought the dresses with me. : Ultimately, we took photos outside and I saved some money on the exuberant admission fee. Now, I did tour the inside when I was a kid. My take away at the time: Too many taxidermy hoof ashtrays and trash cans.
I had the pleasure of performing at the Ukrainian Christmas Ball alongside fellow opera singers and many talented Ukrainian musicians, all part of a fantastic fashion show. Eastman House is truly an iconic venue. I highly recommend taking a tour of this museum, which was once the home of George Eastman. If you can, make sure to catch a film in the theater there!
The Eastman house is a Rochester staple. The gingerbread house event is always a treat and the museum itself is full of history.I do have to say though, I find the new additions like the restaurant to be unnecessary. But overall, it's worth a visit.
