Somisomi Santa Monica

I had ice cream at this place over the weekend and got food poisoning. I went out with my friend earlier that day, and we both had the same exact food minus the ice cream. He was fine but I woke up in the middle of the night with stomach pain and an upset stomach (never happens to me after eating ice cream). It's day 2 and my stomach is still not better. Be careful with this place.

Kind of Japanese-styled ice cream. You can choose a fish-shaped waffle cone filled with different fillings and toppings. They do have many choices such as Milk, Matcha, Ube, Black Sesame and you can also choose the filling stuff inside the taiyaki cone such as Custard, Nutella, RedBean, Red Bean and Cream Cheese and Taro. I think the fillings are too sweet but the cone is crispy. If you are a tourist in LA, I think this is a good choice. However, all the things are a little bit too sweet.

Seriously good! The soft serve is rich in flavor . I ordered the Ume match swirl. The flat taiyaki does indeed taste like mochi inside! I ordered cheese and mint chocolate.

We eat at this restaurant almost every day. The matcha ice cream and upside down fish waffle are absolutely delicious. We also tried the taiyoki, which is basically a fish waffle, and although tasty, some parts were undercooked. It's not overly sweet and one serving is enough for two people.

This is a classic Korean dessert with an updated flair of yummy! I kept seeing people walk but with these and had to track it down and was not disappointed! The ube flavored soft serve was a wonderful combo with the waffle-tasting, fish-shaped pastry.
