Chuck's Roadhouse Grill - Sarnia

Oh Canada Day! We decided to treat ourselves to a steak dinner and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The steak was the thickest and juiciest we’ve ever tasted, and it came at a fantastic price. The service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. To top it all off, we had the pleasure of meeting Sue, the owner, who is a captivating storyteller. Thank you to you and your husband, the chef, for an unforgettable evening. Four of us waited about an hour and a half for our meals. Unfortunately, all the steaks were overcooked, and the bacon-wrapped filet mignon was unrecognizable, despite being ordered medium rare. My daughter's ribs were so dry and tough that they were practically inedible. To make things worse, when we received our $140 bill, there was an unexpected 3 percent charge labeled "Honest Goodness Fee" for what was supposedly high-quality food. This fee was mentioned only on the alcohol menu, which we didn't even order from. It's frustrating when customers are surprised by extra charges, leaving the server in an awkward position trying to explain it.

The staff at this restaurant is fantastic and provides a very warm welcome. Overall, the food is just average, with some dishes falling short of expectations. It's worth noting that this review is specific to this location; although the menu is the same across Ontario, the preparation and flavor can vary. The hot wings were overly saucy and a bit too sour for my liking, but the honey garlic wings were outstanding. I'm giving it 4 stars primarily because of the friendly staff and the nice atmosphere for dining with friends.

We ordered the shareable Caesar salad with chicken and garlic bread. The salad included pita wedges as well, so we probably could have skipped the garlic bread. Overall, it was a delicious and satisfying lunch for two. I suggest that they provide an extra plate for guests; we ended up using the garlic bread basket as our second plate.

During my last visit, I enjoyed a fantastic burger. This time, I opted for the steak and lobster tail, paired with a baked potato, and everything was absolutely delicious. The price for the pitcher of beer was quite reasonable as well. Overall, this restaurant is definitely a wonderful place to eat.
