Sandy Beach Public Use Area - Solon

Big parking lot, 5+ picnic tables, boat ramps. Only bad thing is it floods easily when the water rises.

Check in was easy with polite staff. However another staff was short with her comments on check out for a family member. Facilities are clean but only 2 showers for a large number of campsites is insufficient.

Lot of debris. Although the water was recently very high the beach is not maintained very well. Good location on the lake itself. The water spigot for washing off shoes sandals Etc is located in the middle of the sand pack. Sort of ineffective as once you wash all the sand off you have to again Traverse through the dirt to the parking lot.

Sandy Beach is a misnomer. Rocky Beach would be accurate. By the time we left my feet felt like they had a thousand cuts. Also, after 20 feet into the water the ground turns to muck. Gets two stars instead of one because at least it 's not crowded.

If you want to get away to a quiet place. Sandy beach is wonderful place to just kick your heels up and relax. Not a whole lot of young people camp here. Very friendly host. And the beach is exactly what it says Sandy Beach. Boat dock. At the beach area too. Go check it out.
