Bistro49 Southern Bites, Sutter Creek

This is a fantastic restaurant! The waitstaff are really friendly and great at making recommendations. The chef even came out to prepare food right in the dining area. The butter cake is absolutely the best!

This is a really trendy spot that's tough to get into! The food is incredible. Given how challenging it was to secure a reservation, I anticipated a more upscale dining experience, but it turned out to be more casual, and that was just fine. The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented. I ended up sitting on a comfortable plastic chair, and while I initially wished I had a table in the garden area, I actually enjoyed watching all the bustling activity coming from the kitchen inside. I had a fantastic experience and can’t wait to return!

The fries were pretty bland, and the burger was nothing special—it really needed more seasoning. However, my dining companion said the Cobb salad was tasty. Overall, the service was satisfactory. We went for lunch, and the cost per person was around $20 to $30.

I've visited this bistro a few times. The first time I had the Reuben with fries, and it was incredible! However, during my second visit, I tried the pasta with tomato and capers, and it was a disappointment. The overwhelming flavor of tomato paste was just too much. I decided to return for a third time and ordered the Reuben again since I loved it so much before. Unfortunately, I was let down. The quality and consistency were noticeably different this time; they used cheddar instead of Swiss and added way too much sauce, making the sandwich soggy. The fries were cut differently and just didn't taste the same. It's frustrating when you can’t rely on consistency with a dish you enjoy. I heard they've lost one of their chefs, which might explain the inconsistency. I won't be returning.

I had a delightful dinner at this restaurant! The food was exceptional, earning a perfect 5 out of 5. The service was equally impressive, with attentive staff who made our experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was inviting and cozy, contributing to a wonderful dining experience. I highly recommend trying the dumplings—they're a must!
