As I returned for my second visit, I couldn’t help but appreciate its mouthwatering pizzas. Here’s why it stands out: In my opinion, the chicken pizza steals the show. The crust strikes the perfect balance between crispy and chewy, and the toppings are generously piled on. Whether you’re a fan of chicken, or combo the Gold Dust delivers. Pizza preferences vary but Gold Dust Pizza consistently provides a delightful experience. Each bite is a testament to their dedication to quality. It’s not just about the food; Gold Dust is a great spot for families, friends, or even a casual lunch date. The cozy atmosphere invites you to linger over your meal. Service can be a little slow but have patience due to high demand. Next time you’re in Sutter Creek, make a beeline for Gold Dust Pizza. Highly recommended by one and only me.
We recently went here with a group of four. We’ve heard good things and we anxious to try it. This is typical of many pizza places where you order at the counter and then find a seat. Unfortunately the staff is comprised of kids, some of whom don’t really take their job very seriously. The restaurant could use some fresh management. There were dirty wine glasses hanging near the register and flies everywhere. Speaking of wine, we felt like sticking with wine after a day of tasting. Upon first glance I thought it was beer, soda, or nothing. But then I noticed at the very bottom of the menu it said “wine $8.” So when I got up to the register I asked for a wine list. I was told there’s one on the wall but it’s not up to date. So I asked what kind of whites they had. The young lady goes over to the wine refrigerator (kudos for having one by the way, pulls out a drawer and looks at the bottles, then returns and says: “we have a chardonnay, a riesling, a sauvignon blanc, and I forget the rest.” Awesome! I love the honesty. I made my order but wow…there is room for improvement! The pizza was fine…nothing much to say. We sat outside and the flies would not leave us alone. There is only one pizza place in old town so I think the restaurant will do fine, but there are so many ways they could improve. I will list some below: Offer pitchers so that large groups can bring a lot of water to the table without having to fill individual cups at your soda machine Consider glassware instead of using a thousand plastic cups per week invest in ways to reduce the number of flies! Serve your pizzas with an extra pizza pan to use as a cover to keep flies off Consider paying higher wages to attract workers over the age of 17 Consider making a wine list to hand to your patrons who ask for it, one that is up to date Parking: There is a lot adjacent but the spaces are pretty tight. If you have a full size vehicle it's best to look for street parking. Wheelchair accessibility: This restaurant is an old converted victorian. To order you must go up stairs. I did not see an elevator, but maybe they have one. The patio in front and by the creek both require covering some ground with various surfaces. The front is all flag stone and the back is artificial lawn with interspersed stepping stones. I would say it's not the best for wheelchairs, but not many places in these gold rush towns are.
Pizza is delicious; the atmosphere is great on the patio. You get to sit right next the the creek plenty of shade during lunch time and beautiful during the afternoon as the sun goes down.
We ordered pizza here twice before and it was delicious. We finally decided to dine in, and unfortunately regret that decision. It's hot so it's uncomfortable to eat, but that could be overlooked to enjoy delicious pizza. The problem was the service. I will admit, we weren't sure of our order when we started. Initially, I asked for the BBQ chicken pizza with no chicken or bacon, because we had a vegetarian in the group. Then we realized she would just be eating the other half, the veggie pizza. So we changed the order to half BBQ, half veggie, with no alterations (other than extra cripsy). When the pizza came, the BBQ chicken side did not have pineapple or bacon. The whole reason I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza half was because I love pineapple on BBQ chicken pizza. When we ordered, she did not read our order back, nor offer a receipt. When I went back up to ask about the mistaken ingredients, she insisted that all 3 in our group ordered no pineapple/no bacon. I was the only one who ordered, I dont know why 3 people would make an order... and I definitely wanted pineapple. In fact, I wanted all the ingredients, no alterations. Their solution was to give us a container of heated pineapple... have you ever tried eating pizza with an ingredient added on top after cooking? It just falls off. Maybe it's just because I'm hormonal but I hope they improve their service and avoid making pregnant women cry. I'm so disappointed because it's expensive and we came here as a special treat, it's so delicious.
Excellent pizza. Parking can be a little rough during the busy times to eat.
