Siam is our favorite Thai restaurant in Tallahassee, and we find ourselves dining there at least once a month. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating, a Western-style bar, and a sushi bar. We prefer sitting at the bar, where the service is exceptional. One of the bartenders is Thai and is knowledgeable about which dishes are currently the best (they change frequently). The restaurant sources different cooks from Thailand, which adds to its authenticity. If you decide to visit and want something genuine, be sure to ask for recommendations on the best dishes—we've always had great luck with that approach.
The food was incredible! I really enjoyed the miso soup and the eel roll. My entire family had a great dining experience! However, the service left much to be desired. The server didn't seem pleased that we chose a booth instead of a table, and she appeared less than fond of my kids, who are 14, 12, and 8 and were very well-mannered and polite. We were having a bit of fun and laughing together, which seemed to annoy her. While she kept our drinks filled, she was quick to hand us the bill and waited impatiently for my husband to pay. We always tip because we appreciate good service. Having been a server myself, I understand how challenging it can be with families, but we definitely take care of those who take care of us. The tip wasn't the issue. We were surprised to see the 25% gratuity for groups of 5 or more only after she presented the bill, and her hovering over us was quite rude. Despite the unpleasant service, the food is worth it, but we will likely just order takeout in the future.
I was dropping off my son at FSU when this restaurant was recommended to me, and I wanted to share my experience so that others can know how amazing the crab Rangoon is—it's absolutely incredible! We usually skip ordering crab Rangoon because it rarely lives up to my expectations, but this was the best I've ever had—nothing else comes close. The menu is fantastic, offering a wide variety of options including Thai, sushi, Japanese dishes, and curry. I ordered the "Ladies' Man," which features spicy crawfish, avocado, and cucumber, topped with spicy tuna. It was delicious! My wife chose the Pad See Ew, which was also very tasty. And I have to mention the tempura ice cream—it's unbelievably good!
I would have given 5 stars. But, they forgot my coworkers' crispy noodles and gave her brown lettuce in her salad along with bad avocado slices. The Duck noodle ? soup ? was really good.Staff were very friendly.Otherwise, don't expect it to be fast for to-go orders.Vegetarian options: HaveKid-friendliness: IsWheelchair accessibility: HasDietary restrictions: Works with gluten-free.
The Crab Rangoon is the best in town! Thin and crispy, not heavy like other places. Dipping sauce was just right. The Kim Kha soup is also great. I had it 23 years ago in Guam for the first time and this equals that experience. I don’t eat sushi, but my friends said it was excellent.
