Soda El Guacimo - Tarcoles Costa Rica

This place holds special place in my heart. We come here every time we are in Costa Rica. Coffee is great, breakfast delicious and open air vibe in the middle of the mountain is lovely. Bathrooms were very clean and smelled really nice. Very traditional.

Our dinner plans failed so we ended up here just before closing (at 6pm) and we were glad we did. The Casado was plentiful, tasty, and very inexpensive at about $7.50 per person. Service was fantastic.

Sure enough it does not look fancy but oh my god the food, very local cuisine, great cooks, and portions are big. Prices very fair for the taste and portion

Exceptional breakfast!! El Guácimo serves a superb expression of the classic “Tortilla Aliñada”, a hand-crafted corn and cheese tortilla, served with their famous homemade sour cream. The breakfast of champions consists of savory gallo pinto, ripe sweet fried plantains, two fried eggs with a tender yolk and a side of beef tongue. Fresh brewed coffee from the mountains of Tarrazú region is served hot. Enjoy your meal with lovely views of the mountains. I highly recommend this fine establishment.
