Unusual to find a decent ‘pub’ on a railway station : Can imagine it does well when Ipswich are at home too!
This is not really a restaurant it is a combination of small cafe and small pub. It does not offer a full menu of meals, just freshly made bacon or sausage sandwiches in the mornings and packed sandwiches, pasties, cake, etc all day. It serves tea and coffees and offers vegan oat milk as an alternative to dairy. Beer, cider, etc are severd during licensing hours. My bacon sandwiches were very tasty, a welcome breakfast having got the train this far after arriving at Harwich on the ferry. There is outdoor and indoor seating: in the outdoor seating it is sometimes hard to find anywhere which is not close downwind of a smoker.
I don't use this station much, but was impressed by fresh filter coffee with cream and a freshly made bacon sandwich for £4. By 9am it was packed and no wonder! I wish them every success
Not the biggest of stations on the busy London to East Anglia line but it is home to a buffet which is licensed! Real bonus and run by nice people. Having a train delayed is not so much of a problem here!!
Happily skipped our connection to Harwich to enjoy the experience of this celebrated and rightfully busy refreshment room. We enjoyed our bacon rolls quickly prepared and served with a smile. A glass of the well kept real ale was a perfect accompaniment! we look forward to our return.
