The JINYA Tonkotsu Black was alright. Flavor was kinda bland and all I could really taste was the kikurage which is a mushroom flavor. Gyoza were good.
JINYA Tonkotsu Black was very good! the broth and other ingredients are in 2 different containers which helps keep it fresh. the pork was awesome and the eggs were cooked just right. only thing is doordash should have a menu option to include chopsticks etc. it didnt come with any so I ended up using coffee stir sticks in the hotel room lol.
I was pretty disappointed when I went there on Friday night. The restaurant is the kind of trendy that seems to sacrifice comfort for the sake of being terribly hipster chic. First, the restaurant is crazy dark. We went at 6pm and it was like stepping into a nightclub. Our "table" actually shared a booth seat on one side with two other tables- one of which was a gaggle of teenage girls so loud I literally couldn't hear a word more poor boyfriend was saying a foot across from me. The wait staff inexplicably yells something every time a guest walks in- what? Who knows. No one explains it. Our waitress was new and awkward, but friendly. The drinks were ridiculously expensive- I paid $9 for an old fashioned that was so full of ice I drank it in a gulp. I ordered a small salad, I was fine but not great. The dressing tasted like frozen soy sauce. The bf got fried Brussel sprouts, he liked them. Our apps had been out for maybe 2-4 minutes and our pho already came, which sat on our table getting cold while we finished the apps we'd just gotten. The pho was fine but the noodles were really undercooked and chewy. They didn't have hoisin sauce either, which is usually pretty readily available at pho places. My potstickers randomly came after the pho had been dropped, and they were overlooked and chewy. After all was said and done, we spent $80 on a dinner for two that was mediocre at best, in an atmosphere so ridiculously trendy it forgets about the actual reason why people go out to dinner- to socialize with *each other*. We were in and out within 30 minutes. We were able to have a better conversation at the busy bar down the street.
