17°C Dessert Cafe in Vancouver is a creative ice shop that offers watermelon shaved ice bowls and light bulb drinks. It is the newest dessert shop in the area. During their Grand Opening last weekend, they had a promotion of 50% off everything and quickly sold out of their popular melon shaved ice bowls. I decided not to join the long line, but it seems that those who were patient enough to wait were rewarded with a unique dessert experience. You can see all the excitement on Snapchat (username: instanomss).
On a hot day, we ordered a watermelon shaved ice and a kiwi light bulb drink at the restaurant. The watermelon shaved ice cost $15, but we split it between three people. The shaved ice was creamy and the watermelon balls were refreshing, which is why we chose it over the honeydew flavor. It was a bit expensive, but you have to consider the effort it takes to make the watermelon balls. The kiwi light bulb drink was decent, although I personally found the kiwi soda flavor a bit strange. Next time, I might try the Oreo shaved ice instead, which is half the price but appears to be a decent size based on the portion served to the table next to ours.
Loved loved loved the shaved ice here! It was smooth and had a certain sweetness to it (might've just been the condensed milk but I can never taste it anywhere else). My cousin said we should've gone to icy bar instead but as soon as she tried it, she regretted saying that! Their melon shaved ice bowls are extremely creative and lovely to look at. The watermelons were like an avalanche though once you take one, the rest falls as well! It was sad but fun. This place was CROWDED, we were lucky to have gotten seats but I guess that just goes to show how good this place is! Definitely expect to go again!
Shaved ice from 17°C Dessert Café took over Instagram recently after they opened over the May long weekend. If you’ve been reading my blog long enough, you’ll know that I hate line ups so obviously I wasn’t the first one there but thankfully I was invited by ChineseBites for a private tasting. Yay!
