Uva By Calem - Vila Nova de Gaia

I had booked this a few weeks ago for my husbands 50th birthday. My request for a window by the river was granted and the service was good and welcoming. Our food was delicious starting with squid fritters and octopus croquettes and then the cheese salad and prawn linguine. A really relaxing restaurant with beautiful views.

We stopped for a drink late afternoon because of the amazing view. We were so happy that we decided to make a reservation for dinner. We were three couples travelling from the US and we couldn't have been happier. The service was great and the food was also great. Since we were six we had many different dishes and everybody was happy with what they had. The octopus and tuna carpaccio were favorite appetizers. The langostines were excellent as was the cod. The gelato for dessert was delicious and the gluten free brownie was as tasty as any brownie I had.

The service here is terrible, not it’s not terrible it’s non-existent! We spoke to the manager who didn’t have a clue how to recover bad service and encouraged us to write this review! Please give her some training and teach her how to manage, speak to customers and achieve service recovery.

We came on a windy but sunny afternoon for a snack and everything was on point. The atmosphere was perfect, the cod was hot and the port was competitively priced. We didn't have a chance to eat a full meal but for a chill afternoon or to watch the sunset, would highly recommend

Perfect view on the bridge and the Douro river. It is a good choice for a family dinner or even to celebrate something good variety in the menu, nice vine cart and a cozy atmosphere.
