El Arriero Taqueria 1 - Wilmington

When I arrived, I noticed the phone was off the hook, which explained the busy signal. I approached the woman at the register and asked to place a to-go order. She told me to wait a minute, but after 15 minutes of waiting, she was engrossed in a full conversation and completely ignored me. After repeating my order several times, she finally got it right, but then struggled to process my card since it doesn’t have a chip. I’ve used that same card at this register without any issues at least 100 times. While I was waiting, a group of five came in, and I thought she would take their order and then get back to mine. I was getting increasingly frustrated with the service, but my pregnant girlfriend really wanted the Quesabirria special, so I decided to stick it out. As they finished up, the woman noticed my irritation and said she would take care of my order next. Yet, as soon as she finished with them, she turned around and started taking the orders of two more people who had just walked in! After wasting my entire lunch break, I ended up leaving without anything. I'm sad to say that I won’t be returning anytime soon. If that woman is still working at the register next time I visit, I will leave immediately.

My grandfather is from Guatemala, and we visited this restaurant for lunch with him. He mentioned that the food here reminds him of home! It's the best Mexican cuisine we've encountered on the East Coast!

We were really looking forward to finding an authentic Mexican restaurant, especially since we are Mexican ourselves. Last Saturday afternoon, we visited with some family members who were in the area. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The young lady at the front was quite rude and showed no customer service skills; her expression made that clear as soon as we walked in. My food took an unusually long time to arrive, and I noticed that it seemed like other patrons, particularly American customers, were being served ahead of us. The food itself was just okay and not worth the price we paid. The next day, we chose to eat at Waffle House, where we spent half as much as we did here, and the service was significantly better.

This was my first visit; ordered takeout went thru drive thru. Very practical! This is the best Mexican food I had in Wilmington! Tacos are authentic! Chimichanga was also delicious with really good cheese sauce! Everything was hot and order was right. It salsa Verdes is also very good! This will be my way for Mexican food from now on!!!

Cute little quaint restaurant with quick service and good food! We got the special : chicken fajita quesadilla 10/10! Make sure to try the sopapilla?s too they are sooo yummy! Clean restaurant and fair prices
