Jim Chai Kee Noodle - York

Ok, for a wonton noodle soup, it was tasty. The wontons were big and had a lot of shrimp. I would not order it with beef or fish balls as those were not good. I wouldn't go out of your way to eat here since it's just a wonton soup unless you are a die hard wonton soup connoisseur.

Jim Chai Kee is known for their legendary wontons and fresh pulled noodles. Every bowl feels like a moment in a noodle house in Hong Kong. One of the original restaurants in the GTA for a classic wonton soup noodle, it's great to see that they continue to create wholesome food, with a homemade quality.

Wow! If you only have a few minutes before catching the GO shuttle back to YYZ, this is where you should have lunch! You already knew their wontons are huge and legendary, I don't need to repeat that. It was their speed of service that impressed me. Things were running late the other day and I had exactly 20 minutes to get back to the Richmond Hill center to catching the #40 bus. My friend obviously loved to live dangerously. She insisted that I have time to stop and eat something. She was right! Two minutes after we placed the order, the food (2 bowls of wonton soup and a side of veggies) appeared. I got to the bus center with 3 minutes to spare!

The menu is relatively simple and just a few items to choose. in my opinion, the noodles are really good. The wonton is shrimp based, not a lot of taste. I wish they have more choice on their menu.

We have been to both Jim Chae Kee in Richmond hill and Scarborough. Parking is full in R.H. More parking in Scarborough and the place looks a bit nicer inside. They're both small eatery. For $6 you can order 4 good size shrimp wonton in noodle soup (egg noodles). Pay another $2.50 and you get a side order of Choy vegetables. It's worth it and leaves you full. Help yourself in the tea section for your own tea and drink it from styrofoam cups. If you're in a hurry, this is the place, served very fast.If you want rice noodles, you can order instead of the egg noodles.
