Even though Brad's wife was absent, the service remained good. We did have to wait 45 minutes for a table, but that's to be expected here due to the quality of the food. The prices are reasonable considering what you receive. The atmosphere is similar to Cracker Barrel; if you've been to one, you've essentially experienced them all.
I stopped by this restaurant during a road trip on a Wednesday evening around 6:30, and I was seated immediately. Unfortunately, my usual fried fish plate is no longer available on the menu, which was a bit disappointing. They've recently updated the menu, and there are fewer options now. This time, I decided to try the pot roast with mashed potatoes and another vegetable. The meat was incredibly tender; I could cut it easily with my fork. However, the brown gravy didn’t impress me—it tasted like it came from a mix. The biscuits were delicious, as always. The service was prompt, and my food arrived quickly. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with a quick meal and was back on the road in no time.
We had dinner at 7:00 PM with a group and really took our time to savor the evening. As always, it was an enjoyable experience at this restaurant. The service was acceptable, though the staff seemed quite busy. I recognize that many restaurants struggle with staff shortages and are training new hires during peak hours. I don’t blame any specific restaurant for this, as COVID has impacted all businesses, not just restaurants. The food was just as delicious as we anticipated, meeting the high standards we expect from this place.
I followed all the instructions for my order, which was supposed to be delivered to my vehicle. After waiting over 25 minutes and noticing that the front seating area was clean but no staff had come by, I decided to go inside to see if my order was ready. I understand that staffing can be a challenge, but when I spoke to a supervisor about the delay, I was told that it was just retail and that the cash registers should manage this type of service. The supervisor mentioned there was someone outside, but their only role was to wash chairs, and they were part of the night maintenance crew. Unfortunately, my concerns about not being notified that there weren’t staff available to bring out my order went unacknowledged. If I had known, I could have gone in to pick up my food while it was still fresh. Sadly, when I got home, the food was lukewarm.
