Sushi Deli Too - San Diego

The sushi could be fantastic, but unfortunately, the fish lacks a fresh taste. There are many excellent sushi restaurants nearby, so there's really no need to dine here.

While not the best sushi you’ll find, the quality of the fish here is a bit lacking. However, they have created one of the most delicious rolls: tempura sweet potato with cream cheese. What makes it even better is the price—just $3 for what could be the best roll of your life. This incredible deal certainly makes up for the long wait and the crowds of hipsters you have to navigate to enjoy your meal.

The Volcano Roll, a baked roll with plenty of spicy mayo, was delicious but a bit heavy. The Calamari Crunch roll was excellent, and I ordered the Shauna roll primarily for the fried sweet potato inside, but I was disappointed by its small size. The waitress was friendly, but the hosts could have been better. Overall, I don't think it's worth the wait. On a positive note, the prices are reasonable; rolls range from $4.75 to $7.00, with a slight increase for baked options.

I considered giving this restaurant four stars since I'm a big fan of sushi, but I believe there's room for improvement. It felt like they were hurrying when preparing my sushi, and the flavors ended up blending together in a rather average way. However, I did enjoy one roll—the Mexican tuna roll, or perhaps it was the Baja roll. The addition of cilantro was a great touch.
