Every table was full when my brother and I arrived, and all the customers were white, which, for a Mexican restaurant, is a red flag for me. When the totopos (chips) arrived, they were stale. Beer-Battered Cod Fish Tacos were ok. The items my brother ordered are not worthy of mention. If you are white and accustomed to Chevys Fresh Mex and generic Mexican food in general, you may enjoy this place. Some taos mesa beer on tap would greatly improve this restaurant. Parking: many rude customers park in the taos mesa parking lot across the street . otherwise, it may be a challenge to find a space. you may need to walk a bit
2024 update — another excellent lunch at La Cueva. Chiles relleno and the chicken enchiladas in mole were very good, and the guacamole once again was a star. Not a fancy place — we were outside on a slanted hillside under an umbrella — but top notch. Friendly and speedy service. 2022 report — Passing through and worried this might be a tourist trap. If it is, trap me again! Excellent mole (and I’m a mole snob), equally excellent guacamole and rellenos. Nice outside patio, quiet though near the main road.
Delicious food and friendly, upbeat service!! This is a must if you're in the area!!
The fajitas were scrumptious and a nice outdoor atmosphere.
Best meal of my whole trip to taos! This is my favorite restaurant there and can't wait to ho back. Best chimichanga I ever had
